Dictivo ("we", "our", or "the app") is a language-learning application for Android. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Dictivo.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information – email address and display name you provide when creating an account (via Amazon Cognito).
• Audio recordings – short speech recordings captured through the device microphone when you use pronunciation practice features. These recordings are processed to evaluate your pronunciation and are not shared with third parties.
• Learning progress – exercises completed, videos watched, streaks, scores, and lesson completion data.
• Device information – device model, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
• Purchase information – subscription status managed through RevenueCat; we do not store payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the language-learning experience.
• To evaluate pronunciation accuracy and provide feedback.
• To track your learning progress, streaks, and achievements.
• To manage your subscription and premium features.
• To fix bugs and improve app performance.

3. Microphone Usage

Dictivo requests microphone access (RECORD_AUDIO) solely for pronunciation practice exercises. Audio is recorded only when you actively tap the microphone button. Recordings are sent to our server for evaluation and are not stored permanently or used for any purpose other than providing pronunciation feedback.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, including DynamoDB and S3, with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito with industry-standard security practices.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) – cloud infrastructure, authentication, and data storage.
• Amazon Polly – text-to-speech for course audio.
• RevenueCat – subscription and in-app purchase management.
• YouTube – embedded video lessons (subject to Google's Privacy Policy).

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and progress data as long as your account is active. Audio recordings used for pronunciation evaluation are processed in real time and not retained beyond the evaluation session. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account).

7. Children's Privacy

Dictivo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored in the app.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Withdraw consent for audio recording by revoking microphone permission in your device settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
